Actively retired real estate broker and attorney Kirk Wickersham was recently elected
to the Investment Committee of the University of Alaska Foundation. The foundation,
which is a non-profit organization comprised of prominent Alaskans, manages and
invests donations for the overall benefit of the University. Election to the foundation is
an honored reserved for individuals, like Wickersham, who have exhibited outstanding
resolve in their personal careers and passion for the state of Alaska.
As a member of the Investment Committee, Wickersham is responsible for investing the
250 million dollar University endowment. Thanks to his reputable track record as a real
estate broker and entrepreneur, Wickersham proved himself worthy of this monumental
task to the University’s Board of Trustees. In addition, Wickersham manages investment
advisors and firms. His savvy business spirit has proven instrumental in the committee’s
ability to make fiscally sound decisions with the best interests of the University’s
students at heart.
The rest of the Investment Committee is made up of others who have significant
experience in the finance and investment areas. Wickersham notable list of achievements
within these fields includes an appointment to chair of the Alaska Real Estate
Commission, work as an economic development consultant and the reception of a
national award for his innovative community development regulations.
He is also known as the developer and owner of the FSBO System. Founded 17 years
ago, the FSBO System is an organization that provides coaching and consul to do-it-
yourself home sellers in the United States and Canada. It has proven a rousing success,
saving the average home seller over $15,000, and has recently been reconfigured for use
on the Internet.
Wickersham intends to meet the challenges imposed by the Investment Committee with
poise and passion. A former graduate of the University of Alaska, Wickersham wishes
nothing more than to serve his alma mater in the most effective way possible.
